Woven Gradient Quilt “Sew-Along”

25

I remember that, as I was making my original Woven Denim Quilt in 2016, I knew that I was making something pretty cool… if I could make it work. At that point, I had been weaving for a while, but was newer to quilting, so there was a lot of figuring it out as I went along the way.

But now, a few years and dozens if not bajillions of quilts later, I’ve got this technique down pat with lots of tips and tricks and ma ready to conquer another woven gradient quilt, but this time with Art Gallery Fabrics Outland Yarn Dyes. And since I have a gumption that a few of y’all wanna learn how to make this with me, I’ve decided to have a “sewalong” starting in mid July. I’ll have more specifics coming soon here with dates and prizes and all that jazz, but for now make sure to get my free pattern. It’ll ask you to sign up for my e-mail list and once you do, you’ll get an e-mail with the PDF link.

    Hey Matthew,

The link to your beautiful woven gradient quilt pattern is going to the email sign-up every time. I did sign up the first time, even though I’m already an email subscriber but then it kept returning to the sign-up through the pattern link. Could you check the link? I’d love to do the weave along.

Matthew, I’m still having the same problem with the sign-up page popping up. I’ve checked my email and there isn’t a link directly to the pattern.

I have been signed up for your newsletter for a long time. It appears that I can only get the pattern if I sign up but when I try it tells me I am already signed up….which I knew lol. Kindly point me in the right direction. I would love to make this along with you and others. I even have the wefty needles!

    Hi Matthew,
I am making this quilt but with some modifications. I am double folding the fabric and weaving it as a double sided reversible quilt. My question is besides the joining strips I want to do some quilting stitches to give it more stability and am not sure what to do. Straight stitches or serpentine maybe, would love to have your input. I have been wanting to use your woven method since I saw you at the Clark County Qullt meeting. Loved it. Karmen

I’ve never Quilted a double sided by am about to. It really depends on how you do it or whether you use a stabilizer. I’m probably gonna straight line mine

    Hi Matthew,
I am so glad you have posted this pattern. I have been wanting to try this technique since you visited us at Clark County Quilt Guild. I have started it in a modified manner. I am doing 1″ strips double folded so that I don’t have to have a backing. I want it to be reversible and light weight for summer. I am wondering how you would suggest I quilt it, straight stitch the strips, serpentine? I have 3 little dogs so I think I need to have it more secure than leaving the weaving without stitching since I am doing 12″ squares due to the larger width of strips. TIA for any help you can give me.
ps your visit to our meeting was so entertaining and fun as well as informational.
