So I just finished piecing this quilt top. And realized too late that I included the binding in with the rest of the colors, lol. So it’s a tad longer than the pattern quilt. Picked up some steel grey grunge locally to do the binding and will be getting this on my frame tonight/tomorrow. Would recommend using a pretty short stitch length during piecing so seams are sturdier for handling while piecing the strips cut from the tubes. And stay-stitch the outer edge of the left and right quilt edge strips. I have 4.5 inch WOF strips cut for the same pattern out of Sky Ombre colors, and will be cutting the tube strips as I need them to sew, in order of piecing, to maintain the horizontal gradient across each colorway.
So pretty. I used these fabrics to make ball ornaments using the Mx. Domestic YouTube tutorial and they came out great.
Absolutely gorgeous! I used it for the sky above a tree of life collage and my only regret is that I need to buy more—this will be my go to fabric for sky.
So, I bought the String Me Along quilt pattern and Acorn Hollow half-yard bundle separately and have been working on my version of this quilt. The Acorn Hollow and coordinating grunge fabrics are wonderful. I made my version larger and added some sashing with grunge and another fabric from my stash. The pictures include the pieced quilt top and some blocks that will become a coordinating pillow sham to go with the quilt.
It’s even better than it looked on the screen! I’ve got a bundle of primary batiks sitting next to it while I wait for inspiration.
