Okay first…. Wooooooow! I’m allowed to do this about my own projects, ya? Like in my head the combination of Suzy Q‘s Hexie Stripe Quilt pattern and April Rhodes Arizona After fabrics was perfection, but the actual finished project is out of control. OUT. OF. CONTROL.
To begin, I created three trios of awesome from the fabrics and sliced them per the pattern instructions.
Then I sewed the trios together and sliced them again using my handy dandy ruler. Seriously with every step of the process the bananas rating increased.
And then the laying it all out of my design wall started and I basically had to leave the room I was freaking out so much.
And like I love how with Quilts that like I think I’ve maxed out how cool I think it is and then I piece it all together and then it becomes another level of awesome. Here’s the backside.
And then to the quilting. This is what I used:
- Hobbs Tuscany Cotton/Wool Blend batting
- Afternoon Sail Solid Smooth Denim
- Aurifil Mustard 28wt for the top and Ermine 50wt for the bobbin
And after binding with the same denim, ::drum roll:: the Arizona After Hexie Stripe Quilt was born.
This is so gorgeous! The denim backing & trim just makes it pop!
This quilt is fantastic!!!! I need to make one!
Arizona After is one of my favorite fabric groups. And just when I think it can’t get better…you create this gorgeousnes!! Nice job 🙂
