As soon as it was announced that I was a new fabric designer with Art Gallery Fabrics, Karie reached out to me to let me know that she’d love to make something for my booth at market. Since I’d played with her Whirligig pattern before, I was stoked when she offered to make it with Loved to Pieces. And since I still just don’t understand mini quilts, when asked, I asked for a pillow, but woweewow does this prestuffed Whirligig make me reconsider things.
Absolute gorgeousness, right? And as with all of my market makers, I wanted to individually take time to introduce you all to their clear awesomeness. Here’s some more about Karie:
I am Karie Jewell aka Two Kwik Quilters.
I was taught to sew by my grandmother at age 14 and started quilting at 21. I was “taught” by another military wife while pregnant with my middle child. I use taught very loosely because she showed me a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat and told me that somehow you can strip piece things. 10 years later in 2001, I started writing patterns and I currently have 82 different patterns. My patterns follow whatever type of quilting I am currently interested in so you can find Tote Bags and Purses, Traditional Piecing, Art Quilts, Mini Quilts and Pillows, Foundation Paper Piecing as well as my current obsession…. English Paper Piecing.
This 22” pillow is made using my Kwik Whirligig EPP pattern. I fussy cut all the pieces to use the most of each of Mister Domestic’s fabric designs.
The front is quilted with Aurifil Monofilament thread in a circular design to help soften the sharp corners of the piecing design. The back of the pillow was quilted with Sulky Blendables 30 wt variegated thread in a plaid design. It is available in 3 different size packs of paper pieces… pillow, throw or queen size.
