One of the first tasks that I had after I finished designing Loved to Pieces was to design a free pattern for my look book. And since the English Paper Piecing love was already represented in the overall inspiration for the collection, I wanted to create a way to honor my love of fabric weaving in the form of a quilt. Hence, Woven Pieces was birthed: an 80″ x 80″ quilt that looks like a ginormous weave even though it’s pieced.
Each section of the quilt is 10″, so it’s a relatively quick sew. And the intersection of all the blocks are yummmmmmy.
To date it’s the biggest quilt I’ve made and I’m most definitely a big supporter of quick, easy, big quilts.
I was totally in a pinch and needed to find a local longarmer to quilt this puppy so I could finish prepping for market an get this into my Look Book and the living angel that is Mariposa Quilting came to my rescue. And wow is she talented. Like check out this close up.
The perfect binding to bring it all together was the Real and Sew Azul Print.
And check out Felicia working her magic on the binding with some more close-ups of the amazing Mariposa Quilting magic.
And then here we are at Spring Quilt Market.
So the moral of the story is:
- Quick, easy, and large quilts are awesome.
- Mariposa Quilting is a living angel that is an amazing quilter.
- Weaving is fundamental even if it’s only pretend.
