As I was designing the Mandala Drops print from my Loved to Pieces Collection, I knew that I wanted to make some sort of applique project replicating the design. Like many project ideas, I had the thought and then went on with my life making other projects higher in my queue. But then I was exploring the Crafter’s Edge Die Catalogue and saw this Mini Circle Set that I knew would help me achieve a pretty rad smaller project.
If you’ve never raw edge appliqued before, you need to adhere fusible webbing to the back of the fabric before sending through the die. I used a HeatNBond Ultra Hold for mine because I knew they wouldn’t go anywhere once I heat set the circles.
Even though I knew the dots wouldn’t go anywhere, I decided to quilt the pillow front with a tight grid using Superior’s MicroQuilter and Thermoweb’s High Loft Iron On Fusible Fleece. It’s not the easiest thread to find, but it’s so worth the search because it’s super strong and creates the most amazing texture. If you find a store that carries it, please post it in the comments because sharing is caring and stuff.
After this step, I put this in my UFO pile because I got my Aura Fabrics and had to change gears. But now with the holiday break, I’ve decided to finish my UFOs. I think I did that last year this time so it’s officially a tradition now I just decided.
Now that this is finished, I’m super jazzed at the outcome and can’t wait to see what other projects I can finish. Do you have any UFO’s?
