After seeing Kim Desselle’s original rayon Love Pattern 2.0 dress that Kim had made for her own daughter, when she offered to make one for Helena using my rayon from Loved to Pieces I honestly got a little teary because I knew it would be sooo beautiful and turn my little lady into a queen. And boy oh boy did Kim knock this make out of the park. She took such spectacular photos of the dress and her words are perfection that we’ll jump right in. Say hello to Kim.
Hello everyone! I am so happy to be here, and so excited to share a little bit about me and my sewing life. My name is Kim Desselle, and I recently started Josephine Rose, LLC, which is a budding boutique clothing company for women and children. I am a wife, mother, and litigation paralegal by day, and fabric-obsessed seamstress by night. Sewing became my passion when I became pregnant with my first daughter, ten years ago. At first, I wanted to learn to sew a quilt for my daughter’s nursery, something different that I could not find anywhere else. I had a friend who quilted, and little did I know that while she taught me a few simple techniques to make my first quilt, she would also be igniting a fire deep inside my heart and soul. I began sewing whenever I could, making simple things for our home, family and friends. I checked out books from the library, watched YouTube videos, and spent my free time learning as much as I could about quilting, sewing, textiles, and fabric art. Two years after having my first daughter, I had my second daughter, and I realized that it was so much more fun to make my girls coordinating outfits than it was to go shopping for them. After a decade of sewing selfishly for myself and my girls, I began paying attention to the requests and comments from others that I should sell what I make. So, I decided to have my third baby, which I named after my daughters: Josephine Rose, LLC. I am just getting started, and currently making a lot of custom garments, but I am having the best time in the process!
When Mathew first shared his new fabric line for Art Gallery Fabrics on IG and FB, his inspiration, excitement and overwhelming joy literally made me tear up, and gave me all the feels. I have been a huge fan of Mister Domestic for a few years, and I have been continuously inspired by his kind heart and creativity, while always remaining genuine and true! When he asked for people to help contribute to his booth at Quilt Market, I jumped at the opportunity. I asked Mathew if I could please make something for his beautiful little girl, something special and different, and perhaps a little unexpected. I loved the bright colors and lines of the Gladiolumns Deepbluem in rayon, and knew it would make a beautiful maxi dress – perfect for the little princess that Helena is. I used the Love Pattern 9.2 from Duchess & Hare because I love its delicately sweet simplicity, which allows a beautiful and bold fabric to shine. The result was so fabulously flowy and soft. This was my first time sewing with Art Gallery’s rayon, and it certainly will not be my last!
Come and visit me on IG or FB at josephineroseclothes, or on my website at www.josephineroseclothes.com. I have met so many fabulous people in the sewing community, both virtually and in real life, and I have made so many new friends! I am so excited to be on this journey, and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead!
And to make this even more awesome, Duchess & Hare is having a fundraiser through June 15th for the non-profit Cocoon House. Cocoon House is a non-profit that conducts outreach to, and provides short and long term housing for homeless and at-risk young people, including their children. Parents of teens can also find support for themselves and their families at Cocoon House so that young people do not become homeless. From RIGHT NOW through Midnight June 15th (PDT), use code COCOONHOUSE to receive 40% off of your total purchase from the store. I will donate 20% of the purchase price to Cocoon House.
Thanks again Kim for making such a stunning dress for Helena. It truly means the world to me.

This is lovely! Mister Domestic’s joy in what he does truly is inspiring!
Thank you, Matthew – it was an honor.
