Basically, I just couldn’t quit this Me + You fabric, so I decided to make complimentary pillows to my Luminary Quilt without being matchy matchy. I had ordered a couple jar Mini Charm Jars from Velvet Tomato that were just sitting on my shelf, so I decided to give it a go.
For the front I decided on two designs, one with a big block in the center and a second with three separate blocks, both highlighting the gradient in the original quilt. Once they were pieces together, I thought quilting in a basic grid would both be super cute and hide the seams.
I wanted the back to have substance also, so I used the remaining scrap strips from the Luminary Quilt and quilted with unidirectional lines using the 10 colors of Aurifil Thread that I had used before.
After I had finished with the all four panels, I kept unconsciously repeating “business in the front, party in the back,” hence I dubbed them the Mullet Pillows.
With zippers installed and inserts inside, these beauties finally emerged victorious!
I am super stoked I chose the complimentary route and plan to do more of this in the future.
Well done!
Thanks Liz
