Sunflower Fold’n Stitch Wreath

I discovered this Fold’n Stitch Wreath pattern during Christmas-time and I immediately bought it to add to my never-ending closet of projects to make. I wasn’t feeling the holiday versions of the Wreath for myself, but this one flower version in the packaging totally tickled my fancy and I was soooo excited when I realized that spring was here because that meant it was time to make this.

So if you would like to make a Sunflower Wreath of your own, you’ll need the following supplies:

• Fold’n Stitch Wreath Pattern
• Bosal precut squares
• Appliqué fusible 
• Fabric
• Thread
• Good times music in the background

• Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Elements: Canary, Turmeric, Dark Citron, Chocolate
• Aurifil Thread 40 wt: Canary, Spring Green, Chocolate

Or I found this kit from Poorhouse Quilts that has everything you need to make two wreaths. Trust me, you’ll wanna make two. And also watch this video on their site once you get the pattern. It helped me gobs and gobs.

To get the center to be a solid brown instead of brown “bound” with yellow, I had to tweak the instructions. So if you’re going for a similar look as mine, here’s my Appendix to the pattern. FYI, I’ve intentionally written this to not make sense unless you have the pattern because that’s fair I think. 

In addition to the cuts included in the pattern, cut six 4″ brown squares and then cut them on the diagonal to have eight triangles. Overlap one of the brown triangles on the corner of one of the yellow fabric squares and extend the triangle over the edge 1/4″ and cut.

Remove the yellow triangle that was cut underneath the brown one and overlap the brown triangle onto the remainder of the yellow square to make a flush square. Affix the edges of the brown triangle onto the yellow square with glue.

Now sew this per the instructions of the pattern.

Also, I had some extra single sided bosal and freehand drew a couple 12″ leaves on it and used a rotary cutter to cut them out. Then I used the same technique from the pattern to “bind” and stitch.

And there you go. Now you can have your own Fold’n Stitch Sunflower Wreath just in time for spring! Woohooo!
