Crazy 8 Cuddle Blanket (w/ video tutorial)

2

Of all substrates, all the furry ones are legit the most gratifying from an ooh aah sensation perspective. I’ve made full on blankets. I’ve made jackets. I’ve made pillows. I’ve even used it for quilt backing, which both quilts magnificently and feels like a cloud. However, I’ve heard from a bunch of y’all an intimidation factor with the substrate, so I knew that I needed to make a tutorial.

Shannon Fabrics was super generous to send me a Crazy 8 Cuddle kit and backing for the video. I’d never worked with a kit before and I must say that it makes the process so much easier to mix and match prints and minimize any potential fluff mess. Here are a couple on Amazon, including the Violeta kit that I used.

With my jersey needle, walking foot, and wooly nylon, Alphonso and I stitched up the kit in only a couple hours, so this is definitely a quick weekend project. Here are some of the products that I used.

So enjoy the video tutorial and adding this awesome sauce substrate to your sewing arsenal to get that ooh aaah sensation all day every day.

Wooly nylon thread? I have never heard of it, but I suppose I am not completely thread-literate 😀 Gonna check that out. Okay, you’ve made me want to try this gorgeous fabric. That looks fabulous on Helena’s bed!
