Crossweave by Moda Fabrics

Moda Crossweave is what happens when a “solid” gets a whole lot more interesting. Instead of being woven from the same color in both directions, Crossweave uses two different colored threads for the warp and weft, creating subtle shifts in color, texture and depth as the fabric moves and catches the light. Moda describes the effect with three words that pretty much nail it: dimension, depth and color.

This newer generation of Moda Crossweaves was specifically developed to have a weight and hand closer to traditional quilting cotton, making it incredibly versatile for quilting while still delivering that beautiful woven texture. The palette spans saturated jewel tones, bright warm colors, watery blues and greens, and a seriously useful range of greys, creams and earthy neutrals. Moda also selected many of the color combinations to coordinate with collections from its designers, so they play especially well with prints while bringing a little extra depth to the mix.

Use Crossweave anywhere you’d normally reach for a solid: quilt backgrounds, blocks, borders, bindings, bags, garments and more. From a distance it can read almost like a solid, but up close the interwoven colors give it that extra something that makes even simple piecing feel richer.
